Role

Solo — designed, built and published independently

Timeline

2026

A Chrome extension that turns any browser tab into a floating, always-on-top window, using Picture-in-Picture technology to keep content visible while multitasking.

The problem

Native Picture-in-Picture only works with actual video elements, leaving articles, dashboards, PDFs and other non-video content with no way to float above other windows while you work.

Key features

  • Full-tab capture into a resizable, floating PiP window
  • Cropped selection mode to drag-select just the part of a page worth floating
  • Works on pages without native video, including PDFs, articles and dashboards
  • Everything runs locally on-device, with no data collection or network requests

Challenges

Capturing and rendering arbitrary tab content into a floating window, rather than relying on the browser's native PiP support for video elements, meant building the capture and cropping logic from scratch while keeping everything running locally for privacy.

Outcome

Published and live on the Chrome Web Store.
